Privacy Policy

The names you put on the wheel stay in your browser and never reach our servers. The site is free because it shows ads, supplied by Google AdSense, and we measure traffic with Google Analytics 4 — both load only if you agree to them, and you can change your mind at any time. We collect nothing about you directly.

Your entries stay on your device. Names, titles, weights, saved wheels, spin history and options are held in your browser's local storage. They are not uploaded, not stored in a database, and not visible to us. Clearing your browser's site data for this domain removes them permanently.

Shared links carry their own data. When you use Share, Embed or the QR code, your wheel title and entries are encoded into the URL itself. That link contains your data — treat it like any other link you would not post publicly by accident. We do not receive a copy when you create one.

We use Google AdSense, and nothing else. It is our only advertising partner. We do not embed social media pixels, data-broker scripts, or any other ad network.

No ads load until you say yes. On your first visit a banner asks for your choice. Until you choose, we signal denied for advertising and analytics storage using Google Consent Mode v2, and the AdSense script is never added to the page.

If you choose “Accept All”, AdSense is loaded and may set cookies or read device identifiers to measure and personalise the ads you see. Google acts as an independent controller for that data; what it collects and how it is used is covered by Google's policy for partner sites.

If you choose “Essential Only”, no advertising script is loaded at all. You will see empty ad space instead of ads. Nothing about you is sent to Google.

Functional storage — your wheel entries, saved wheels, language, theme and your cookie choice itself. These live in local storage on your device, are required for the site to work as expected, and are never transmitted.

Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense, and only after you accept them. Choosing “Essential Only” means none are set.

Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4, and only after you accept them. Before that it runs in Google’s cookieless consent mode: it records that a page was viewed, but sets no cookie and assigns you no identifier, so visits cannot be linked into a profile or followed between sessions. Choosing “Essential Only” keeps it in that state permanently.

Almost nothing leaves your device. Wheel entries, saved wheels, spin history, language and theme are held in your browser's local storage. We set no expiry on them because we never receive them — they stay until you clear this site's data, and clearing it deletes them permanently. There is no copy for us to delete.

What does leave, and where it goes. If you accept advertising or analytics, your browser contacts Google directly. Google processes that data on servers in the United States and other countries, as an independent controller under its own retention schedules — analytics event data is retained for up to 14 months by default, and advertising identifiers under Google's own policies. Transfers out of the UK and EEA rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and on Google's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your IP address. Any request to a third party necessarily reveals your IP address to it, including to Google when ads or analytics load. That is a property of how the web works, not something we send separately. Before you consent, Google Analytics runs in cookieless mode and uses it only to derive a coarse location, and no advertising request is made at all.

Our legal basis. Functional storage is necessary to provide the service you asked for. Advertising and analytics run only on your consent, which is why nothing loads until you choose — and consent you can withdraw at any time, below.

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. It clears your stored choice, immediately signals denied to Google Consent Mode, and brings the banner back so you can choose again. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

One practical limit: if AdSense already loaded during the current page view, that script cannot be removed until you reload. Withdrawing takes effect for further ad requests right away, and completely from the next page load.

Your choice is stored locally under npw_cookie_consent; clearing this site's data in your browser settings has the same effect.

To opt out of Google Analytics across every site rather than just this one, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on. Your ad personalisation settings across Google products live in My Ad Center.

The newsletter form in the footer is the only place we would ever collect personal data directly. It is not currently connected to any storage, so submissions are not saved anywhere and no address is retained. We would rather say that plainly than describe a mailing list we do not have.

The wheel is widely used in classrooms. It asks students for nothing: no account, no sign-in, and no personal details beyond the first names a teacher chooses to type, which stay on the teacher's device.

We should be straightforward about the limits of that. This site is ad-supported, and we do not present it as certified under COPPA, FERPA, or any equivalent scheme — those are formal determinations we are not in a position to assert on your behalf. If your school or district requires a compliance review before approving a tool, use this page as the basis for it and get in touch with any question it does not answer. Schools that need a strictly ad-free environment should choose “Essential Only”, which loads no advertising code at all.

For the newsletter — the only personal data we hold — you may ask for a copy of it, correction of it, or its deletion, and we will action the request. Contact us and we aim to respond within 5 business days.

For wheel data there is nothing for us to action: we never receive it, so we cannot produce, correct, or delete it. Clearing your browser's site data does that instantly and completely.

For advertising, your consent choice is the control. Decline it and no ad code loads; accept it and you can revoke it at any time using the steps above.

We may update this policy as the site changes. The revision date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes to how advertising works will be accompanied by a fresh consent prompt rather than a silent update.

Most rights requests we can answer immediately: wheel entries, saved wheels and history are held only in your browser, so we have no copy to hand over or erase. Data held by Google under your advertising or analytics consent is Google's to act on, and the links above are the route to it.
