Need to split a group into fair, random teams in under 30 seconds? Paste your names, pick how many teams you want (2 to 10), and spin. The team picker wheel deals each person out in round-robin order — no bias, no politics, no one deliberately stacking their side. Free random team selector for teachers, coaches, project managers, and gamers. No signup, no download.

How the free random team generator works

The Random Team Generator takes any list of names and splits it into fair, even teams in seconds. Paste your roster into the entries panel — use the Bulk Edit tab to paste a full list at once with one name per line — and set how many teams you want to create (between 2 and 10) using the input above the wheel. When you hit SPIN, the wheel picks one name at random and assigns it to Team 1. The next spin goes to Team 2, and so on in a round-robin format until everyone is placed. If your group does not divide evenly, the wheel handles it automatically: the extra people are assigned to the first teams in the rotation, so the team sizes are as even as mathematically possible. If you want to skip spinning for every single person, you can click "Assign the rest" to instantly distribute the remaining names. The generator uses cryptographic randomness, meaning the split is provably fair and cannot be biased or predicted. This makes it the perfect group picker wheel for teachers forming classroom project groups, managers assigning corporate breakout rooms, or coaches dividing training squads. You can reset the teams at any time to throw all the names back onto the wheel and start again. All processing happens entirely in your browser — your name lists are never uploaded to our servers, keeping student and colleague data completely private.
